Following the entry into force of the amendments to the Law on the Legal Status of Aliens, which aim to regulate labour migration flows more efficiently from August 1st, 2024 Mediation letters for Lithuania can no longer be extended according to the .
Changes will be applied to all application that hasn't been registered at Migris (www.migracija.lt).
If your files got expired you have to go on a fully new procedure. That means that extension of fles won't be assisting as it's been before.
Also according to changes applied each change to the Migris from the Employer's side will no longer be free, cost of change one item (date of birth, name or last name, education information etc) 150 EUR. For sure if the mistake is coming fro our or Employer's side this pay is on us.
However now you have to control your application a little more careful and do not let them expire in the process.
Therefore we are willing to give you couple of recommendations to make it more smooth for you:
Take care of the dates You have issue date and you are aware of the term of validity. Make sure you understand how to read the information correctly. Mediation letter is the only file which has a period of validity (4 months from the date of issue). Date of issue is a part of mediation letter number (Example 20240228-043832 where 2024 is a year, 02 is a month and 28 is a date of issues)
Make sure you are completely ready for the application. Prepare all files you will need for processing even before the application. If travel from your country require double-legalisation process it in advance to be right in time and do not delay the process. Register your applicants at Migris directly. Delivery process might take up to 3 weeks, however for Migris registration it's not required to have originals, scanned copy is more than enough so as soon as you receive documents in digital - register your applicants and save time. Be very exact at Migris filling up. Your answers are being checked by the machine which has special parameters. As more exact you will fill the form - as faster your application will be approved. Try to avoid useless text and symbols, make sure it's fully matching with the Mediation Letter information. That way you will not only sae some verification time, but will also increase your chances for the approval.
Choose best country for application. Before you will complete Migris registration check the countries where you applicant will submit files online. This information is available at the VFS website. Place in Migris the country which has the closest application date.
For those agents who are used to control timelines and respect given deadlines these changes will not make any difference at all, for agents keeping applications for a long time in future the process might get harder and more expensive.
